Although parted is a very good software for MBR and other partition tables, it is not so for GPT. First is the 'msftres' flag which gets set for any FAT(any version)/NTFS partition. Second is the option to enter any arbitary partition type GUID for a given partition. I request Parted and GParted (and any other derivatives) developers to visit these sites http://rodsbooks.com/gdisk/ and http://sourceforge.net/projects/gptfdisk/ . Please compile and try this software. Although it does not include filesystem related options and resizing options, it neverthless takes care of almost every aspect of GPT. Please integrate these features slowly but first and foremost correct the 'msftres' flag bug. It was this bug that made me search for alternatives. I have included the source code and compiled version (x86_64 64-bit) of 'GPT fdisk 0.2.2' for people to try. Thank you.
