Description

I wanted chnage some pratitions on a drive initially formated with a geometry of 240 heads.

I used gparted to change some linux partitons. However, without any asking the geometry was changed to 255 heads. This destroyed whole partition table and ended up with drive completely unalocated.

I could then recover all windows partitions with testdisk, the linux partitons I had to delete and create with old partiton magic to keep them compatible with the rest.

240 heads is nothing illegal, so gparted should be allowed to operate on such drives and not change all automatically to 255 heads, or the user should have some option entry to deal with such situation. There more heads number standards then 255 still.
